Youth shoots girl, later commits suicide

AGRA: In a one-sided love affair, a 20-year-old youth allegedly shot a teenage girl in Etmadpur area and later shot himself as well and later succumbed due to excessive bleeding.

The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Dhaurya village, when the girl was returning home from a local temple.

Identified as Pooja (18), the victim who is an intermediate student was shot by the accused Sher Singh (20), working as compounder in private hospital in Rambagh.

According to police, the two were neighbours. "After interacting with the girl, Sher Singh shot her from point blank and later shot himself. He was declared dead after few hours in a private hospital, while the girl was in intensive care unit of S N Medical college," said Jaikaran Singh, station officer of Etmadpur.

"Based on the written complaint filed by girl's parents, we had filed an FIR against Sher Singh under IPC section 307 (attempt to murder). Prima facie it seems that youth had shot the girl in one-sided love affair. According to Niranjan, father of the girl, Sher Singh was bothering the victim for the last several months," said the SO.

By the time this report was filed, police had sent Sher Singh's body for post mortem, while Pooja was still in coma and a team of doctors was trying to remove bullet from her body.
